Mom's Rock!

A week ago we were bracing for a snow storm, which turned into an awesome blizzard. I enjoyed every bit of it too. Lisa, a close friend of mine and I went for walks 3 differnet nights in the frigid temps. I mean 3 to 5 degree weather with the windchill way below zero. We had so much fun climbing on top of the huge snow piles on the corners of intersections, we could reach branches and were even eye level with windows on 2 story houses. We ran and pushed eachother down and made snow angels in the public park. Don't forget, it is 3 degrees outside. This was all after 8:30 at night, we walked past my house and I saw 3 little heads looking out the window...they were spying on me, wanting to know when we would be home. Ha.

Well, tonight we will go for our walk, but the snow is slushy and the piles aren't so high and the town is not so pretty, but we'll probably come home soaking wet from splashing in the puddles. Who said Mom's have to grow up!

Independence day

My Conversation with Miss Sydney tonight...

S- Mom?
Me- What babe?
S- I think it's about time I got my own apartment!
Me- What makes you say that?
S- Well, I AM almost 8!

As she was standing naked after her shower in the bathroom and I was brushing her wet hair.

This really got me thinking about how time has flown by and in 10 short years, we will be for real having this conversation! She is such a first grader and such a big girl!

Snow Day #2

It's snow day #2 for us here in LeRoy. Joe went to plow snow on the country roads from 6 am to 6 pm. We hung out here at home and watched people plow the drive and other people's drives. A person could make lots o' $$$!!!! About 3:00 we headed outside for some snow play. We had such fun! Here are a few pictures of the day

Snow Fun

We had so much snow that one of Joe's friends brought his back hoe to move the snow into our yard! Now, I really don't appreciate the four foot mounds, because it will take FOREVER for it to melt! BUT, it really is so much fun to walk on top of them and be the tallest person in the world!

Well, I have taken a few pictures here and there. I am playing with my camera and trying to figure out f/stops and shutter speeds. I am slowly getting it. However, the reason for the picture is to show the awesome blizzard that we are having as I am writing this at 7:30 pm. When I woke up this morning to my alarm at 6:00 I looked outside, turned on the radio, listened for the school closing and went back to bed. We alread had 7 inches on the ground and as of now, I believe we have 8-10 inches and the wind is blowing, creating drifts of up to 8 feet in the back yard between our garage and the neighbors garage! Way cool!!!

We made chocolate, chocolate chunk cookies and stayed inside and watched the drifts get higher and higher.

Sydney, Chase, and Michele were itchin' to go outside and play...Helllooo, it's a blizzard outside! So after buggin' me for far too long (I kept telling them it was too cold) I told them to "GO" Well, they went! It took them about 5-10 minutes to find their coats, snowpants, hats, gloves, scarves and boots. After they bundled up and were all excited about going out in the snow to play they went out and jumped in the gigantic snow drift and came back inside in less than 1.5 minutes and said it was too cold. I laughed. They came in, and took off their clothes and wet gloves and with rosy red cheeks Michele declared that she never wants to go back out there again...too funny. I did not go out there to take a shot of them in the snow, I'm not crazy, but this is from the back door as they were headed for the drift...

Goldilocks and the 3 Bears

My dad had hip replacement surgery on the hip he had replaced about 12 years ago. He went through a 6 hour surgery on Tuesday and boy, is he in alot of pain. Joe and I took the kids to go see grandpa and to brighten his day alittle.

Although he was hurting, he was joking around with the nurses and was happy that they were enjoying the homemade chocolates that he made and packaged for them.

I brought some paper and markers for the kids to make a colorful card for him. They were so proud to show him their masterpieces. Mis-spelled words and all.

The first picture is of Sydney as Baby bear in the 1st grade production of Goldilocks and the 3 bears. It was a really cute play. Sydney did really well, for not being able to see half the time. She got to wear her pajamma's and slippers and bring a toothbrush. She knew 2 weeks ahead of time what PJ's she was going to bring and would not wear them to bed, I'm thinkin' she was thinkin' I was not going to wash them for the play.
Michele got to see her big sister and was just swinging her legs and laughing. It was so cute to see her so immersed in the whole thing.

Got It!

Ok
I think I've got it down now. Thank you Amy...
I have been checkin' out other peoples blogs and came across one which really made me think. I didn't know her or her family, but she lost her beautiful little 3 year old girl to an accident and I read about it that day!!! It made me realize that all the pictures and stories that I take for granted are just that- taken for granted. So now I will write about the little 1 minute conversations that I have with the little people in my life and look back and remember.

At this very moment, my Michele and the twins (that I watch while their mom is teaching) are upstairs playing Barbies. They play and fight really well! Hannah and Emma are 51/2 and Michele is 41/2. I have watched Hannah and Emma since they were 2 and next year they will be in Kindergarten so I have not much time left with them. It's sort of sad for me to know that soon I will have no more little ones left at home. But such is life.

We have had below zero temps here lately. We are unable to go outside to play, but today we are going to the nursing home to visit all our friends. We have not been there since Christmas and this is the longest that we have stayed away due to us not feeling well and the residents not feeling well. When I asked them if they wanted to go today, they all yelled "Yeah, we get to go to the nursing home today!"

Here are a few pictures I took a couple of weeks ago when it was nice enough to be outside...the day that I kept clicking away and forgot to get Michele to pre-school on time...20 minutes later she gets to class and I have to explain to her teachers that I was too busy taking pictures to get her there, oops.
